The Living Planet Fund Management Company launches a new compartment addressing Renewable Energy
The name of the compartment: ‘LIVING PLANET FUND – ENERGY’. The Living Planet Fund Management Company, a subsidiary of WWF International, has launched a thematic compartment focussing on renewable energies. The Living Planet Fund – Energy is a Luxembourg registered Responsible Investment fund investing in global equities with focus solely on renewable energies. The Fund has the “European passport” and is compliant with European Union UCITs III regulations. This thematic fund is a quality financial product that allows retail and institutional investors to align their ethical values with their investment goals. It has a long term investment strategy and constitutes its portfolio by adopting 4 approaches: 1. Exclusion of nuclear power and fossil fuels. 2. Companies considered for inclusion need to meet stringent financial criteria. 3. Selection of companies using different categories of indicators, including environmental and social policies. 4. Best in class approach: only best performing companies within each technology are considered for inclusion in the fund. The 30 to 40 companies considered for inclusion need to meet stringent financial criteria and belong to the value chain of the energy sector: manufacturers, distributors or best practice consumers. To spread the risk inherent to a thematic approach, the fund invests in different technologies such as solar energy, geothermal, water, biomass and wind power. This new investment vehicle is managed by Sarasin and complements the existing range of products offered by the Living Planet Fund Management Company: Living Planet Fund – Equity, launched in 2003 (covers global equities, 8 themes), Living Planet Fund – Bonds, launched in 2009 (covers global fixed income), Fund’s profile: Name: Living Planet Fund - Energy; ISIN for Class A (private investors): LU0473962123; ISIN for Class B (insitutional investors): LU0473962396; Currency: EUR; Issue/redemption frequency: Daily.
