May 28-29 2010 - Geneva Forum on Social Change
Students of the University of Geneva’s International Organizations MBA Programme (www.iomba.ch) will be hosting the second installment of their annual documentary film symposium, the Geneva Forum on Social Change, on 28-29 May at the International Conference Centre Geneva. We would like to extend an invitation to Sustainable Finance Geneva. The Forum, which is free and open to the public, uses the power of documentary media to inspire creative new types of partnerships and discussions in international political affairs, international development, humanitarian aid, and socially responsible business. The theme of this year’s Geneva Forum on Social Change is “Grassroots Innovation”, and will include films such as the Oscar-nominated documentary “Food, Inc.” and the critically-acclaimed “To Catch a Dollar: Muhammad Yunus Banks on America”, as well as panel discussions centering on building sustainable business models, discovering creative new sources of financing for social ventures, and increasing fair trade. Last year’s event featured ten documentary films — including the critically acclaimed “Taking Root: The Vision of Wangari Mathai”, and “Waltz With Bashir” — six panel discussions, and two workshops sponsored by the Independent Television and Film Service (ITVS.org). The Forum also featured a keynote address by Archbishop Desmond Tutu. We are focusing on how communities of people — communities of neighbors, of co-workers, even of departments within large organizations — can advance positive social change through business. More…
