UK considers fiduciary duty: is it ethical and for the long term?

140317_EthicalInvestorThe United Kingdom Law Commission report on the fiduciary duties of pension fund managers, and the role for ethical, environmental and social considerations in those decisions, is due to report in June 2014. The Law Commission report is looking at established duties on pension trustees to act in the best interests of scheme members, and how far these duties require trustees to maximise financial return over a short-time scale (at the expense of the long-term), and how far trustees can consider other factors, such as environmental and social impact.
